July 01, 2006 By: Gwen Evans Choose an interior designer or an interior decorator who can make your dreams a reality.First, you will first want to decide whether you are looking for a decorator or a designer. Many times, these terms are used interchangeably, but they are not the same. A decorator will look at the current interior design and decor of your house and will make suggestions on how to improve on the decoration of room interiors. This may include rearranging and laying out furniture and making color and fabric suggestions. Designers usually perform tasks decorators do not. Residential interior designers usually do the kind of work decorators do, but have specialized technical knowledge beyond decoration such as space planning and cabinetry detailing. They deal with plumbing and electrical issues and building requirements for residential interior design and renovations as well as the decoration of home interiors. They will create wall layouts and take the structure of your residence into account. Best of all the designer and decorator will alleviate the stresses and headaches of the interior design process. Obviously, a designer rather than a decorator is required for more elaborate and large custom projects. Either one can be of great help for simple changes to the interior decor or more complex home makeovers. Both have the experience and original creativity to pull any residential design project together to create attractive and personalized dream interiors for homeowners.
