May 28, 2006 By: Karen Hofatt B.I.D What does the perfect home theater look like? Create the ultimate in media room design if you have a big budget and big space.Consider stepped levels for large interiors so your guests can see the screen unobstructed. Furniture should be plush and even recline so you can watch long movies comfortably. Locate furniture in rooms away from the screen as per required viewing distances. Interiors should have a dark color palette for a cozy feel. Light and sound control are key considerations in home theater room designs. Decorative wall sconces will illuminate interiors softly and add character and style to room designs. All light fixtures should be placed on dimmers to illuminate the interior and create the right ambiance. Cover walls with padded to other rooms. Ideally, media rooms should have no windows but if you do have windows, incorporate room-darkening screens to block and diffuse the natural light. Raise and lower them at your leisure with a remote control switch. Media rooms should have a plan: ensure that you have discussed what electronic theater components you want in the room designs with your systems supplier before you start building. Hire an interior designer to help coordinate the interior design in a timely and efficient manner and so avoid potentially costly mistakes. Designers will generate interior design plans for your home movie theater so that you can have a room created with all the bells and whistles.
