Decorating kids rooms: some basic design considerations when decorating childrens rooms.

Decorating kids rooms for pre-teens can be a unique challenge; parents usually have a favorite way of designing childrens rooms and youngsters aged 8 to 12 (tweens) start developing their own interior design ideas. Avoid conflict by incorporating the following room design ideas when designing childrens rooms so you and your child will be happy.

Use bright color schemes to decorate a kids room decor and stimulate their imagination. Whimsical touches such as wall or ceiling murals add character to any kids room decor. Imaginative murals can transform an ordinary bedroom into a magical and personalized space. Designs should reflect the interests and hobbies of your kid so consult with your child about which themes he or she prefers. You can easily paint a mural of a plane for a kid who loves airplanes, or create a castle for a girl who loves being a princess in her bedroom design. Children often like to help decorating their rooms, so choose designs they will love to create themselves.

As tweens grow older reading and music activities take greater importance. So incorporate plentiful storage shelving and bins they can reach comfortably and personalize the interior decor by displaying their collections of bugs or Barbie dolls. Friends also become more important so incorporate flexible, multifunctional furniture such as futons or a trundle bed with an extra drawer with a mattress for sleepovers. Leave lots of floor space for playing games.

You can even ask your child to help you find kids room decor; by researching online childrens stores together you can avoid the frustration of mall shopping and your kid will probably start to love decorating their rooms as much as you do.
