No wonder this decorating style is especially popular with teens! Designs should have an open floor plan for a casual feel. Utilize inexpensive, disposable throwaway type furnishings in the decor. Incorporate 'kitschy' accessories to accent and enhance bedrooms such as vintage cardboard prints by kitsch artists or pop art designs such as Andy Warhol inspired posters with 60's symbols such as Barbie, or Coca Cola. Common materials for furnishings include plastics, metallics and fake fur. So incorporate inflatable blow up furniture such as a funky but comfortable waterbed. Ideas for seating include stylish fiberglass and molded chairs for reading or homework tasks. Add comfy beanbag and poof chairs or even throw cushions on the floor for hanging out with friends. For lighting ideas incorporate novelty, stylish arch floor lamps and lava lamps in the decor. Include bright avocados, oranges, reds and purples for paint colors or psychedelic patterned wallpaper designs in bold abstract patterns and wild shapes to liven up the decor. Accent and emphasize the bed with a shag rug. A great way to find these items is at shop at flea markets, garage sales and specialty retro stores online. This decorating style has alot of fun ideas and designs to create bedrooms that rock and is very easy on the pocketbook, especially a teenagers.
