If you are living in a small apartment bedroom and are a bit challenged by its dimensions there are creative bedroom makeover ideas that can be utilized to make the design of bedrooms appear larger when you are decorating. When decorating a small bedroom, it is all about creating the illusion of more space by employing tried and true design techniques that will trick the eye.

By reducing the mass of the bed you can give it a lighter appearance; simply reduce the bulkiness of the headboard design. Ideas to enhance the bed decor would be to install wallpaper or a hanging fabric option. Install a Murphy bed if space is at a premium, this way you can utilize the floor space when company shows up. Reduce the amount of furnishings to maximize traffic flow. A common idea is to use mirrors to expand the room by reflecting light. Glass top tables will make objects appear to float. Furniture should have lots of storage and be multifunctional; an attractive storage chest can be used for seating. When decorating keep ceilings white, employ light colors or paint walls a monochromatic color scheme using different tones and shades of the same color. This will also reflect light creating the illusion of more space. Lighting with higher wattage bulbs will also do the trick. A good idea would be to reduce artwork on walls for less distraction and the appearance of less clutter. Reduce the bulkiness of drapery, window treatments and bedding by using simple tailored looks in the decor.
